Lucy G. Acosta Humanitarian 2018 Honorees

  • David and Flo Buchmueller
    David and Flo encompass all of the qualities of humanitarians.  They have volunteered on behalf of many El Paso area health, human services and cultural organizations.  They have touched the lives of many through the giving of their time, talents and financial resources. 
  • Dr. Dwayne Aboud
    Dr. Aboud has life long history of community involvement in organizations designed to improve the quality of life of persons of all ages.  Most recently he is the founder and strong supporter of the El Paso Border Youth Athletic Association.
  • Maggie Morales-Moody
    Maggie's most significant contribution to El Paso center around her firstborn child, Melissa, who was born with Down syndrome.  Maggie with the help of her other children and her husband, the family decided to build a place for other children and adults with Down syndrome.  Her efforts culminated with the grand opening of GiGi's Playhouse El Paso.
  • El Paso Baptist Clinic-Agency
    43 years ago the clinic had one doctor, one receptionist, one nurse (Eleanor Poe) and one patient.  As time went on, word spread about the compassionate and spiritual care.  The clinic operates solely on donations and the patients are not charged for services.
